Hiring a PCB Assembly Technician

Summary of Role

Assembly technicians play a critical role in manufacturing and maintaining electronic devices. They work with printed circuit boards, the foundation of most electronic systems. The PCB Assembly Technician will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure timely and accurate assembly of electronic circuits.

Essential Duties for the PCB Assembly Technician

Component Preparation & Placement

  • Prepare electronic components for assembly, including trimming, bending, and cleaning as necessary.
  • Manually position components onto PCBs using appropriate tools (tweezers, etc.)

Equipment Operation

  • Occasionally operate simple equipment during assembly.

Hardware Installation

  • Install fixed or turning hardware on PCBs.

Quality Control

  • Conduct visual inspections and functional tests to verify the quality and functionality of assembled PCBs, identifying and rectifying any defects or discrepancies. Ensuring the quality and accuracy of assembled PCBs is essential.

Soldering

  • Utilize soldering techniques to attach components onto PCBs, ensuring proper connections and adherence to quality standards.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions. Strong soldering skills and familiarity with electronic components and their functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Some vocational training in electronics.
  • Familiarity with PCB assembly techniques.
  • Soldering certifications desired.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
